According to a new survey of more than 3,000 women, we lie constantly about our eating habits − almost nine fibs a day, in fact.

According to researchers, the foods most likely to prompt a lie were chocolate, cookies, cake, wine, cheese, and bread.

Here are some of the most common lies we tell about our weight:

  • It was only a small portion
  • I’ll have a big lunch so I won’t eat much after this
  • I only treat myself once in a while
  • I always eat my fruits and vegetables
  • I didn’t touch any of the cookies
  • I had only one glass
  • I didn’t eat the last one
  • I won’t eat again today after this
  • I was too busy to have lunch
  • I might as well polish them off now or they’ll go bad
