Country artist Drake White delivered a stunning cover of a classic country ballad by late singer-songwriter Don Williams during the latest episode of God’s Country. White joined podcast co-hosts Dan and Reid Isbell teamed up to deliver a rendition of “Lord I Hope This Day Is Good.”

White said on the podcast that the 1980s ballad by the late Country Music Hall of Fame inductee is one that supports that “everything’s gonna be alright in the end. So if it ain’t alright, it ain’t the end.”

The Isbell brothers said their conversation with White is “the most inspiring episode of God’s Country yet.” They shared in the episode description that “Drake talks about his 14-year journey in a ten-year town and how he’s kept a positive attitude amidst his traumatic brain injury. The guys learned that Drake’s first show was at his hometown beauty pageant and that, during his Nashville tenure, he took three months to move across the world. Everyone agreed ‘Lord I Hope This Day Is Good’ is the perfect song to listen to on your way to the stand and laughed over the instructions given to them over the years on how to find said stand.”

Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke CombsMiranda LambertScotty McCreeryJon PardiLainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast this year. Guests appearing on the show so far include HARDYDustin LynchColbie Caillat and others.

“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”

The iHeartPodcasts/MeatEater show is available anywhere you listen to podcasts, including in the iHeartRadio app. Select country stations will broadcast the show between 7-11:30 p.m. local time on Sunday evenings. Find God's Country here.
